When we first started planning our wedding at the beginning of the year, my wedding dress wasn’t really anywhere near the top of my To-Do list. I think mostly because the though of looking for it didn’t excited me AT ALL. Firstly, I have no idea what I want. Secondly, me + shopping = extremely frustrating. Not to mention most wedding dresses that I see online or elsewhere haven’t really tugged at my heartstrings.
Well, now all of the sudden, almost 6 months (!) from our wedding date…people keep asking if I’ve found a dress yet. My answer “Uh, well I guess I should start looking!” I know that it’s not early to start looking, but I feel like my taste could change in 2 months (silly, huh?). Should I just get down to business or what?
So a few questions for our readers:
1. When did you start looking and/or get your wedding dress?
2. Did you find it difficult to shop for a dress when you had an idea of what you wanted in your head?
3. Did you buy your dress online?
Thanks for the input guys, I NEED it!

i started shopping in january for our october wedding – not because i was excited, but because i hadn’t seen anything i liked (at all) and was afraid i would have to try on hundreds of dresses before i found one i even remotely liked. that didn’t end up being the case, the third dress i tired on ended up being the one. i tried on a few after, but once i tired that one on again – i knew. the whole experience was so much more fun than i thought it would be and now i can’t believe i have to wait until october to wear it!
i highly recommend trying to visit a bridal shop during the week – it’s much less crowded which for me was much less stressful.
good luck!
What’s Up Europe in Visalia on Main Street (weird name I know) is really an awesome little dress shop. I found a dress there that I loved and the woman that runs it is a designer herself, so she can basically take any dress and make it into something that’s custom to you. They are also very nice! And well-priced (I live in LA, but I’ll be driving back and forth for fittings cause it was just so much more affordable than anything I found here) I would get on it soon, because some dresses can take months to order. I wasn’t all that thrilled about dress shopping, but she made me so comfortable and it’s only you, whomever is with you and her in the shop, so it’s a lot of fun! P.s. I wouldn’t trust anything you like online personally. Everything I thought I love, ended up looking horrible on me. I never would have tried on the dress I ended up buying if my friend hadn’t made me.
I’m in the same boat. I definitely don’t want to start dress shopping at all. I’m so picky and I don’t think I’ll ever find one.
