So you know how everyone says you should visit multiple vendors, try on lots of dresses, visit lots of locations and so on before making your final decision? Yeah well when Matt and I started planning our wedding we sort of threw that idea out the window for the most part.
Location: Six. We may have searched plenty online but really, we only visited about six places. We originally booked a place, had them cancel and we started the search over again and found our current location after about two visits.
Caterer: One. We had a tasting before we even booked with them which was delicious, they offered a wedding coordinator, they provided chairs, tables, linens, etc., they also do lighting and a cake. We were sold.
Photographer: Two. We visited two photographers in the same day and the one we picked blew us away. Her price was right in our range, I loved her pictures and she seemed pretty awesome to work with.
My Dress: Five, maybe Six. I went to one boutique, tried on a few dresses in my price range and then I found the one. I wasn’t necessarily convinced at first so I tried it on again and we all agreed it was the winner.
Florist: Two. This just came down to pricing really. Two different people offering me what I wanted and we went with the cheaper, closer location. That was just easy.
Officiant: One. This choice was fairly easy because Matt’s cousins will be officiating our ceremony. We didn’t have to meet all sorts of other people, we just knew it would be them.
We’re still working on a DJ and invites and a honeymoon, but other than that most of our big stuff is booked. So basically what I’m saying is, don’t doubt yourself. If you only visit one caterer and you love them, go with them! Don’t think you have to visit tons of places and try on a million dresses just because it’s “what you’re supposed to do.” I say, just go with your gut and you and your groom will know what is right for you.

We visited prob 10 venues before we decided. One photographer, one DJ, one florist (all friends of friends in some relation). And I think I tried on maybe 10-15 dresses? But only in 2 stores, and I went back to the first store to get my dress.
I only visited 2 venues! haha. Buut I searched online forever and checked out tons of prices/pictures
This is really helpful, My fiance and I got engaged at christmas. We have plenty of time to get things together. Our biggest problem is agreeing. We’ve already upset my parents about the location (we haven’t chosen one yet but they wanted it at our church and we already had agreed not at a church-its just not fair to either of us)
His mom is our florist (which=free for us YAY!) everything has seemed to be a pain so far, so this advice helped.
